September 2016 Patreon Drive - Details

As an extra incentive for our Patreon supporters through September 2016 we will be offering one-of-a-kind bottle finds as a thank you for your support.

Here is how this drive will work. Each unique found bottle will be assigned a Patreon Value. Select the Patreon plan associated with that bottle or another plan that will equal or exceed the Patreon Value of the bottle at or before six month from the last day of the month of the first donation. Once your Patreon Value commitment is fulfilled and you have covered the cost of shipping + $1 for packing and the bottle will be sent to you. You determine the shipping method and options and we will quote you a price.

Why are you selling these items?

We are not actually selling these items. We are providing you an opportunity to receive a one-of-a-kind thank you gift. We are a listener supported podcast and thought this would be something our listeners would be interested in receiving.

Is shipping and handling included in the Patreon Value amount?

Shippping is extra and will be quoted once you have exceeded the minimum Patreon value and the amount has been reported to us by Patreon as settled.

How are you determining the shipping costs?

Once you have completed your pledge for the item we will be contacting you to find out what your requested shipment method and options will be. Based on the shipping method and options you choose we will estimate the shipping cost and provide you a quote. This quote will include our $1 packaging fee. If you are OK with the amount quoted you will temporary increase your monthly donation by the quoted amount. Once that amount has been settled through Patreon we will start the packaging and shipping process. We will ship within three U.S.A. business days of the Patreon settlement. Patreon settles donations on the 1st of the month. Please allow a full 72 hours for the settlement process.  You may decrease you monthly donation to your desired donation amount once the payment has settled. The extra donation amount to cover shipping and handling will not could towards future perks.

I live outside of the US.  Will you ship to me?

Yes, maybe.... at this time. Our intent is to be able to offer this to all our listeners no mater where they live. You are responsible for all shipping costs, insurance, VAT, import tarrifs and other unanticipated fees. In our business life we do have experience with international shipments and will attempt to anticipate challenges for your location, but as with all things that are transported internationally there may be unforeseen problems. If you have specific questions or concerns please contact us before you making your pledge.

Will I be charged Sales Tax for the items you send me?

No. These items are thank you gifts and not a product for sale. If we determine that there is a State Sales tax requirement for an item that we have shipped to you then we will cover it. This only applies to US states and not to international orders.

I know you have said the items have no physical value, but I want insurance on the item for shipping. How much will it be insured for?

These are options you will choose when we work through the shipping with you. Each carrier has its own rules for insurance and those are what would be followed. We will use whatever amount you choose within reason. If you decide it is worth One Million Dollars we won't insure it for that amount, but if you decide that since Jim touched an item it is worth $150 then we may be willing to submit that amount.

You said you shipped my thank you item two weeks ago. Why have I not received it yet?

If you have a question with the shipping please contact us. Depending on the shipping method and options you chose we may be able to offer some tracking information. If after 30 days you have not received the item we will consider it lost in shipping. If you chose an insured shipping method we will assist you in the paperwork that you will file with the shipping carrier. If it was an uninsured shipping method we will let you choose a different item of lessor or equal Patreon value to your missing item.

I am already donating to the program through Patreon. Do I need to donate again? Can I receive an item from my previous donations.

If you are already a Patreon Supporter to Scuba Obsessed and you have not received an alternative perk or gift you may apply the amounts you have previously donated to this September 2016 drive. Your donation level needs to be at an amount where you will donate to the Patreon value amount within the next six months plus any one time fees. Please contact us for any questions.

When does Patreon charge my credit card for the monthly fee?

On the first of the month Patreon will charge all supporters at their pledged monthly amount. Patreon provides us a report of funds that have been settled with the credit card company.

I am having problems with my credit card and the charge didn't go through? What happens to my item?

Please contact us via our contact form on ScubaObsessed.com and let us know what is going on. We will also be contacting you once we notice the issue on our Patreon report. We are willing to give you 30 days to resolve the issue. If after 30 days if issue has not been resolved we may offer the item for someone else to claim for a pledge.

I selected an item but you notified me that someone else had already claimed that item? How can that happen?

We are offering a variety of ways for someone to pledge the Patreon amount related to an item. Patreon is intended for collecting funds related to creative projects. It is not an eCommerce shopping cart, so there are some potential holes on the process. Whoever requests an item first and has met the pledge requirements for the item will have the item reserved for them. If you were the second person to request an item we will let you know so you can change your pledge or select an alternative item.

After three months of pledging I have decided that I not longer want the thank you item. What are my options?

The item is merely a thank you item and not being sold as a physical product. At any time before your product ships you may decline your thank you item. You may cancel any monthly commitment to us via Patreon at any time before it is settled by the Patreon system. We won't refund any settled pledges.

Can I send you a Check or Cash for a Bottle?

We are making this offer to encourage our listeners and supporters to make a monthly commitment through Patreon, so all funds must be sent to us through Patreon. We will not be able to accept Cash or Check for this promotion.

The item I want has a value of $50 as a Patreon value. Can I choose the $3 a month plan for that bottle?

Yes, but there are some conditions. To reserve the item we must have a six month commitment that equals the Patreon value of that item plus a one time payment for the difference. So in the case of a $50 item you have chooses a $3 monthly plan that would be $18 after six monthly payments. We would need the difference of $32 as a one time pledge before we can reserve the bottle.

You have an item listed as $100 and I just looked on eBay and a similar item is valued at $6. What is up with the value difference?

We make no market value assertions for the items we are providing you as a thank you gift for you support. The funds we receive from Patreon helps us fund the production of the content we create such as our podcast and our website. If our goal was to receive market value for an item we would list it for sale on an action website. For those of us that find these items we believe their is much more value in the experience and story related to the find than the monitory value of the item itself. We hope that you share our opinion.

I just received my item and the conditions is not what I expected. Can I return it for a refund?

We will not be offering refunds. The found items we are offering were discarded years ago in or near our waterways as trash. We enjoy diving and improving the ecological conditions of this precious resource. The more interesting items we are offering as a thank you for your Patreon donation. We hope you accept our thanks for supporting us.

Were any of the items taken off of shipwrecks in the Great Lakes?

None of the items offered in our September 2016 Patreon Promotion were found in the Great Lakes or as part of any shipwreck. These items were discarded years ago as trash in or near our waterways as trash. Most of the items we find get placed in the trash to be send to a landfill. The one will more character and interest we save.
